Technical Museum for Radio Lovers, Technical Students

Thanks to my Parents, father Prof G S Kalburgi mother Sarala. and my elder sisters Chetana nd Uma, twin brother Arun, who encouraged me to be an engineer. Their support is immense. Later my teachers, mentors Sri Kopper, Sri Joshi, Prof PSN Reddy, Prof BL Desai and many more, who taught me to take right path. On Radios I sincerely thank Sri Pandu Rajan who taught me more on radios.
I also sincerely thank Sri His Highness Padmanabhan Varma, of Travancore Royal Family, who is a Radio lover and his encouragement made me to open the Radio Museum.
I was keen in the radios when I was 9 years and one of our servants thought me to do Crystal Radio during 1970s. From then Radio is my Best Friend. After I studied engineering and when TV came, most of the radios were discarded from houses. I started collecting the radios from 1980s, from Sunday market, scrap dealers etc. I have unique radios from all over the world. Why I collect the radios? I want to open a radio museum. So on this Feb13th 2021, I opened mu “SHORT WAVE RADIO MUSEUM”. This is dedicated to my guru Mr. Pandu Rajan, who is expert in tube radios.
Based in Bangalore, Karnataka, INDIA, I am collector of Vintage Tube Radios and have about 180+ sets, all radios are unique. Keep looking for older sets and try to restore the sets to original state. Not REPAIR !! only Restoration. I keep looking for radios mainly the rare ones. In Bangalore, I have a nice workshop setup, and racks full of Vintage Radios.

Relive the Radio Days !!
Vintage Radio Restoration - Workshop
The older generation (aged 60 to 90) still enjoy the radio days and they can visit and see the sets of their days and discuss the glory of radios. Philips, Murphy, Pilot, PYE, Grundig, Saba Bush were the best brand Radios.
Each Radio has a story to tell!. Those days the radio was the Only Entertainment at home. It was window to the world, so many people had bought the radios with their hard-earned money. Now with the new technology at fingertips, these radios are scrapped and are destroyed. My intention is to tell the people, please preserve them, if you have one, give a space, get it restored and feel the sentiments of those by gone days. This way you respect your elders too. For example a small radio used to cost Rs.350/- during 1963 and was brought by a govt high school headmaster, and his salary would be Rs.5-7 only !!. So expensive were the radios !!.

Radio Dials represent the World , in fine tunes !

Bigger the radio, prestige in society went up!!. These wooden radios used to cost remarkably high during 1950s-70s. But today radios are in attics, stuffed in box for lack of space and interest. And are lost in technology wave. My wish is to bring them back, give a space to the Radio, enjoy the music, recreate those sentiment, emotional moments back.
